Enjoy a city break to one of the finest spa cities in Europe - Budapest. |
The capital city of Hungary, Budapest and a huge metropolis split into two parts - Buda and Pest, lies on the banks of the River Danube. Buda is located on the western side of the Danube and occupies one-third of the city's area whilst Pest is on the eastern side of the river occupying the remaining two-thirds. Buda is very hilly and historically the seat of government with elegance derived from its beautiful Gothic churches and public buildings. Pest sprawls across flat terrain and is more industrial than Buda.
The Gellert Thermal Baths & Swimming Pool is one of the most beautiful and elegant thermal baths built between 1912 and 1918 in an Art Nouveau style. Following severe damage after World War II, they were rebuilt and are small pools containing water from Gellert Hill's mineral hot springs and the water is said to be mineral-enriched containing calcium, magnesium, sulphate, fluoride amongst others which is great for cleansing the body.
Budapest has a temperate climate. Spring usually arrives in early April followed by hot, humid summers. Snowfall can be heavy during the winter. |
